Character/Theme
In the book Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, there are many interesting characters. One of the characters that I am most drawn to is Dr. Jekyll. In this book , Dr. Jekyll pushes science and human nature to the extreme. He pushes it so far that even his friends are beginning to question his sanity. Dr. Lanyon, one of his oldest and dearest friends even said " But it is more than ten years since Henry Jekyll became too fanciful for me. He begam to go wrong, wrong in mind." Mr. Jekyll would have social mood swings. After the dissapearance of Mr. Hyde, he began to see his friends again. He went to dinners, held dinners, and was visibly a lot happier. Then, after a small party, he went back to being in isolation. He, wouldnt see anybody, and wouldnt let anybody inside his house. One could only imagine what he must be hiding, or who he is hiding. The theme that is represented in this character is that sometimes science is pushed too far, and could harm you and the environment around you. Dr. Jekyll created Mr. Hyde and he ended up killing a man, and killing Dr. Jekyll's social life. Dr. Jekyll used science and chemisrty for the wrong things and now he and the people around him must suffer. He is putting himself in harms way, because if Mr. Hyde is caught the police could trace it back to him. And if he is not caught, Mr. Hyde could still go around killing people, and terrorizing the community.

Story of the Door Reaction
The most memorable part of the Story of the door, was how Mr.Hyde just trampled the little girl. It made me think about howmean people could be, even if they are trying to hide something. i think he is trying to hide who he really is. i think that Mr.Hyde is really Dr. Jekyll. this relates to the multiple personality disorder that i read about during the pre-reading assignment. The themes are that Mr.Hyde is really Dr.Jekyll when he changes his personality, which is why he would leave all his money to Mr.Hyde and why he makes sure that all of his servants also obey his every wish.
